Tod Children's Hospital offers a comprehensive three-year training program that is accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education. Our training program blends the intensity and scope of a university training program with the collegial atmosphere and one-on-one experience that only a community-based setting provides.
We are an exclusive provider of pediatric emergency and critical care services for neonates and children and a regional referral center for hospitals and providers throughout northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
The quality of our pediatric residency program is evident in the full five-year accreditation received by the ACGME. Our program is designed to provide core training in the essentials of child health and family-centered care with considerable flexibility for residents to achieve their own professional objectives. Additionally, the program offers a broad range of sub-specialty electives with most of the sub-specialists hospital-based and easily accessible.

Since we serve as a principal pediatric clerkship site for the education of medical students from NEOUCOM, the presence of students serves as a constant stimulus to both faculty and residents and provides many opportunities for residents to get involved as mentors and teachers.
In the past five years, over 20% of our graduates have chosen to pursue fellowships. The acceptance of our graduates into prestigious programs demonstrates the quality of our program and our commitment to preparing residents for future success. Many of our residents have acquired fellowships at:

"Family is very important to me. Tod Children's Hospital's residency program allowed me the opportunity to stay close to my family while being a part of a strong academic and close-knit pediatric training proram. Upon completing my training, and an extra year as chief resident, I not only left Tod Children's Hospital with all the tools necessary to handle the intricacies of pediatrics today, but I also let with a whole new family of friends and colleagues."
