Our one-year Dental General Practice Residency Program is ideal preparation for private practice. The program integrates advanced training in general dentistry with training in medical sciences and surgery so that residents receive more hand-on experience in restorative surgery, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Preventative dentistry, radiologic diagnosis, and fixed and removable prosthodontics are also covered in depth.

Residents receive extensive training in the treatment of traumatic dental injuries, as well as strong surgical experience during their three-month surgical rotation. The department also participates on the craniofacial team at WRCS' Tod Children's Hospital.

Members of the Department of Dentistry and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at WRCS are experienced, young and committed to teaching. Over 30 attending staff members provide diverse experience in all specialties of dentistry.

We opened a new Dental Clinic in 1998, with design effective for both patient care and education. There are six fully equipped operatory sites including fibrotic hand pieces along with an intra-oral camera. Residents treat an average of 25 patients a day in the state of the art facility. A qualified and talented group of dental assistants and hygienists work with the residents as part of our patient team.

The program in general practice residency is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation can be contacted at (312) 440-4653 or at 211 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611.
