The “LIGHT” Program is a partial hospitalization program/intensive outpatient program for adults dealing with mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and eating disorders.  Not all persons with emotional problems need to be hospitalized, but sometimes weekly or bi-monthly counseling sessions are not enough.  The “LIGHT” program provides varying intensities of care to fill this need.  The program operates from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and provides intensive, short-term, goal-directed clinical services.  The amount of hours spent participating in the program are flexible depending upon the needs of the patient.  The “LIGHT” Program may also serve as a step-down program from inpatient care.

Evaluation

The staff of the “LIGHT” Program consist of a multi disciplinary team of professionals so as to provide the most comprehensive treatment possible.  The team consists of a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurses, social worker, occupational therapist,  activity therapist, and recreational therapist.  Each patient receives a comprehensive evaluation and participates in the development of their treatment plan and goals of treatment, which empowers them to work towards improving their level of functioning.

Treatment

The treatment in the “LIGHT” Program consists of individual, group and family therapy, activity therapy, recreational therapy, patient education (which includes discussion about mental illness and medication), and structured therapeutic activities. The variety of therapeutic modalities are patient goal focused, and include life management skills.
