Forum Health Pension Plan For Employees and Retirees

Forum Health recently mailed the 2009 Annual Funding Notice (AFN) for the Pension Plan.  The AFN replaces the Summary Annual Report for plan years beginning after 2008 as part of the Pension Protection Act (PPA) and is required to be provided for all defined benefit plans.  The ANF describes the funded status of the plan and provides a variety of other financial information.

The Forum Health Pension Plan remains ongoing and insured by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). In the event an employer is unable to meet the obligation of an insured pension plan, the PBGC will pay the plan’s benefit, up to certain limits set by Congress. For general information about the PBGC, its benefit guarantees and legal limits on those benefits, please visit  http://www.pbgc.gov/

Forum Health filed for a distress termination of the Pension Plan on September 15, 2009.  Forum Health cannot speculate on the actions by the PBGC or the time frame in which they will act.  Forum Health remains committed in working with the PBGC to preserve current and future benefits for all plan participants. We anticipate no disruption in benefits paid to participants.

Unless and until the PBGC takes responsibility for a plan, the PBGC cannot answer specific questions about individual benefit amounts.

Forum Health asks for the patience of pension plan participants during this process.  Pension payments are not stopping.  All participants will be notified by mail if and when the PBGC assumes responsibility for the Plan.
